Got questions? We’ve got answers. Whether you’re hosting a long-term friend, staying for a summer internship, or just trying to keep the dishes under control, here is how Kouchd works.
No, never. Kouchd is a shared household notebook and bookkeeping tool, not a bank, landlord, or payment processor.Any financial exchange—whether it’s splitting groceries, utilities, or agreed stay contributions—happens directly between host and guest using your preferred payment apps (like Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Apple Pay, or cash). Kouchd simply keeps a clear, mutually agreed record of what was contributed so no one has to have awkward money conversations over breakfast.
Nope! Kouchd is always 100% free for invited guests. When a host invites you to a stay, you can join with an invite code or link, view house notes and Wi-Fi, review your stay agreement, check chores, and log contributions without ever putting down a credit card.
Hosts can get started completely Free with 1 active stay and 1 active guest. For hosts managing multiple guests, ongoing stays, or roommate setups, Kouchd Plus is $6.99/month** or **$69.99/year (~17% discount when billed annually on our website). Plus includes unlimited stays, unlimited guests, recurring chore schedules, and CSV data exports.
The native Kouchd iPhone app is releasing soon via Apple TestFlight (version 0.9.x) for interested beta testers! If you’d like to help test native gestures, offline house notes, and push reminders before the public App Store release, send us a request through our contact form. In the meantime, Kouchd works smoothly in Safari on any iPhone or iPad.
Yes! Kouchd features individual guest agreements. If one friend is staying for two weeks and another is staying for three months, the host can set customized arrival dates, departure dates, and contribution cadences for each person. Each guest’s financial ledger is bilateral and completely private between that guest and the host—other guests cannot see your numbers.
Kouchd Coins are a fun way to recognize housemates who go above and beyond!Hosts can set up bounties for extra tasks—like deep cleaning the espresso machine, mowing the lawn, or weeding the garden. When a guest completes the task and submits a quick claim, the host approves it, awarding coins that can be redeemed for stay credits on the ledger or household bragging rights.
No sweat. Life gets busy and typos happen. If an entry doesn’t match what actually happened, the host can leave it unconfirmed or tap Void record with a brief note. The guest or host can then re-record the contribution with the correct details. Kouchd keeps a transparent paper trail so everyone stays on the same page.
You can cancel your Kouchd Plus subscription at any time without hassle:
  1. Go to Settings > Subscription & Billing.
  2. Click Cancel subscription.
Your Plus features remain active until the end of your billing cycle. If you were charged accidentally or wish to request a refund, reach out through our contact form within 14 days of the charge. (Note: this applies only to Kouchd software subscriptions, not peer-to-peer stay contributions).
Kouchd has no public listings, no public search directories, and no public user profiles.A stay can only be joined through a direct invitation link or private code generated by the host. Furthermore, each guest’s contribution numbers are kept strictly private between that guest and the host.
