Data Privacy & Encryption

  1. Authentication & Identity:
    • Authentication is powered by Clerk with enterprise-grade encryption and security practices.
    • We do not store passwords in plain text or handle raw credentials.
  2. Convex Realtime Database:
    • Stays and household ledgers are completely partitioned. Only verified members of a household stay can view or query records associated with that stay.
  3. No Direct Fund Custody:
    • Kouchd does not hold or escrow user funds. Users transfer funds externally (via bank transfer, cash, or payment apps) and log the transaction details on Kouchd for shared bookkeeping.
  4. Audit Trails:
    • Every financial action (creation, confirmation, dispute, waiver, or void) creates an immutable entry in the stay activity timeline with a timestamp and the actor’s user ID.
