Kouchd helps hosts and guests establish mutual clarity around stay dates, contribution terms, and house rules. It is a shared household organizer, not a landlord, tenant agency, or legal contract service.

Individual guest agreements

Each guest in a Kouchd household has their own distinct agreement and private financial ledger:
  • Household defaults: When a host creates a stay, default terms are created for the household.
  • Customization per guest: Hosts can tailor an individual guest’s arrival and departure dates, contribution rate, daily or weekly cadence, discounts, grace period, and late-fee terms.
  • Bilateral privacy: Adjustments to one guest’s financial terms do not affect or disclose details to other guests.
  • Shared house guidelines: Guidelines regarding quiet hours, cleanliness, visitors, and shared areas remain common across all household members by default.

Agreement acceptance lifecycle

  1. Host establishes terms: The host accepts the initial stay terms upon creating the household.
  2. Guest joins the household: Entering a referral code or opening an invite link creates an active guest membership and initiates the stay onboarding flow.
  3. Terms review and acceptance: The guest reviews household logistics, full house guidelines, and their individual contribution rates, then selects Accept Terms & Enter Household to sign off on the agreement.
  4. Handling revisions: If a host later updates stay dates, contribution rates, or rules for an active guest, only that specific guest receives an update prompt to review and accept the revision before it takes effect.

Payment records and outside settlement

Kouchd displays payment details (such as handles or links for PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, or Apple Pay) provided by the host and records contributions reported by household members.
No financial custody: All monetary transactions occur externally between host and guest. Kouchd does not collect, hold, escrow, transfer, or process funds, and ledger records do not independently verify that external transactions have settled.

Open communication and local laws

Use the stay agreement and household notes to establish transparent mutual expectations from day one:
  • Discuss changes in advance: Always speak directly with your housemate or host before modifying financial terms or house guidelines in the app.
  • Local regulations: Kouchd does not replace local residential tenancy laws, building lease rules, or legal counsel. Make sure your shared living arrangement complies with local residential guidelines.
