# Delete your account and data

> How to export your household data and permanently delete your Kouchd account and personal information.

You have full control over your account and personal data in Kouchd. If you decide to stop using Kouchd, you can close your account and delete your data at any time.

## Before you delete your account

>
> Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. Once deleted, your active stays, household notes, and contribution records cannot be recovered.

Before requesting or completing account deletion:

1. **Export your records:** If you wish to save a copy of your Ledger or stay history, visit the Ledger tab in the web app and export your contribution records.
2. **Cancel active subscriptions:** If you are subscribed to Kouchd Plus, ensure your subscription is cancelled under **Settings > Subscription & Billing**.
3. **Notify household members:** If you are the host of an active stay, invited guests will no longer be able to access that stay once your account is deleted.

## How to delete your account

### Option 1: In the web app

1. Sign in to your account at [app.kouchd.com](https://app.kouchd.com).
2. Tap your avatar or initials to navigate to **Settings**.
3. Select **Privacy & Security**.
4. Scroll to the **Danger Zone** at the bottom and click **Delete Account**.
5. Confirm by entering your password or verification code.

### Option 2: Contact support

You can also request account deletion directly by contacting support:

1. Submit a request through our [contact form](https://kouchd.com/contact).
2. Enter the email address registered with your Kouchd account.
3. Select **General Support** and mention `Account Deletion Request`.
4. Our team will verify your identity, process the deletion, and confirm removal during support hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Eastern Time).
