# Pricing, Cadence & Terms

> How Kouchd calculates obligations, early discounts, and late fees.

## Financial Mechanics

Kouchd calculates all ledger items deterministically down to the exact cent using integer arithmetic.

### Cadence

* **Weekly**: Obligations are generated for 7-day intervals starting from your stay's start date.
* **Daily**: Obligations are generated per 24-hour cycle.

### Early Discounts

To encourage timely contributions, you can configure an early discount:

* **Example**: A weekly rate of \$200.00 with a 10% discount if paid 2 days early.
* If the obligation is due on September 8th, paying on or before September 6th reduces the effective charge to \$180.00.
* The discount is evaluated once per obligation based on the date the full balance or payment is initiated.

### Late Fees & Grace Periods

* **Grace Period**: Number of days after the due date before late fees apply (e.g. 2 grace days).
* **Late Fee**: A flat dollar amount (e.g. \$25.00) added to overdue obligations.
* **Host Waiver**: Hosts always retain the ability to waive a late fee with a single tap if circumstances warrant flexibility.
